Our dogs used to do this. A small yorkshire terrier (smaller than usual, she was the runt), our shitzu and our lab/chow mix. The yorkshire terrier (Named Tiny) would sleep on the lab's bed, while the Shitzu and lab/chow looked on in disbelief.
We miss you Tiny Girl!

I have a border collie mix and there is a cat bed on the floor in my computer room along with a very nice comfy bed I made for my dog. Where does he lay? In the cat bed! He looks so funny but it was his choice.
It will do all the logging and graphing the inexpensive software does but with the Ford specific bundle you can command engine actuators (I think) and run diagnostic routines. Very powerful diagnostic tool. That leaves scanners. There are many many inexpensive ones. Given the other options available, I would skip the cheap ones.
